Regardless of whether or not you have a website or a facebook page, it’s likely that people will be talking about your business online. There are literally hundreds of websites where customers might comment (or place feedback) about their experience with your brand and there simply isn’t enough time to monitor them all individually.
How to track what’s being said about your business.
Google Alerts is a free service that tracks certain phrases or keywords that appear on the internet. Setup a google alert using your company name and you’ll receive an email whenever your business is mentioned online.
Google alerts work very well if your company name is unique. For example:
- Westpac Bank
- Porse Childcare
- Michael Hill Jeweller
- Alimento Cafe
However you shouldn’t bother setting up a google alert if your company name isn’t unique as you will get far too many unrelated search results.
But here’s what you could do:
Find out what’s being said about your competitors online
That’s right, setup a google alert based on your competitors name and you can track how they are perceived online. Use this information to position your business away from your rivals or take advantage of any bad press or customer feedback that they receive.
